The competence network for additive manufacturing in north-west Germany

For developers, service providers and users of prototypes, components and tools made by additive manufacturing processes.

About the association

Additive Manufacturing Nordwest e. V. (AMN) is the competence network in north-west Germany for developers, service providers and users in the fields of prototype, component and tool manufacturing using additive manufacturing processes.

The purpose of AMN is the targeted dissemination of applications of additive manufacturing. Scientific and application-oriented findings about these technologies are made known to a broad public, and companies are supported in the use of new means and methods of production.

AMN supports its member companies through:

  • specialist and information events as well as technology marketing activities
  • product development cooperations for the purpose of technology transfer
  • encouraging and supporting practical application
  • gaining scientific insights in cooperation with universities and other scientific institutions
  • further building and expanding the AM network in north-west Germany

Our board

AMN is led by a board from research, industry and higher education. The office is your first point of contact.

University of Bremen / Leibniz Institute for Materials Engineering IWT

Additive manufacturing (PBF-LB/M, DED, metal powder production, thermal spraying, spray forming) has accompanied and fascinated me for many years. As a research associate at the University of Bremen / Leibniz Institute for Materials Engineering IWT, I currently apply for and work on research projects on laser cladding with metal powders, often focusing on feasibility studies and the development of new materials. I look forward to gaining deeper insight through AMN into what north-west Germany has to offer in AM. I want to bring industrial companies and research institutions in the region closer together so that everyone benefits.

Materialise GmbH

As deputy chairman of AM Nordwest in Bremen, I want to advance additive manufacturing hand in hand with companies, research and industry. Professionally, I work as Lead Manager Marketing Aerospace & Defense at Materialise and deal every day with the opportunities of innovative manufacturing technologies. My role at AM Nordwest matters to me because networking, sharing knowledge and joint initiatives are essential to strengthen AM in the region in the long term and to open up new potential.

BIAS – Bremer Institut für angewandte Strahltechnik GmbH

I am responsible for industrial application development at BIAS, Bremer Institut für angewandte Strahltechnik GmbH. Together with my team, I develop solutions for questions from industry. My focus is on laser materials processing, such as powder bed additive manufacturing (PBF-LB/M) and directed energy deposition (DED), but also micro-structuring and laser welding. Together with AMN, I want to inspire more companies about the possibilities of additive manufacturing and build strong partnerships within the network.

recAdimo

As owner of recAdimo (since 2001), I focus on technical product development, prototyping and sound design engineering, supported by tools such as professional 3D scanning. What fascinates me in particular is how conventional and additive manufacturing processes can be combined or substituted to unlock entirely new potential and functional integration. I am involved in Additive Manufacturing Nordwest e. V. as secretary because the association connects industry, science and users perfectly. My goal is to strengthen active knowledge transfer, continuously increase the visibility of our network and, together, establish north-west Germany as a future-proof innovation location for additive manufacturing.

BEGO Medical GmbH

BEGO is an owner-managed family business from Bremen that has grown from a 19th-century gold beating workshop into an internationally active dental specialist. BEGO Medical GmbH is regarded as a pioneer and patent holder of selective laser melting (SLM) in dentistry and produces metal crowns, bridges and implant prosthetics in its CAD/CAM production centre in Bremen.

With the Varseo 3D printing system, BEGO also enables dental laboratories to produce restorations from high-performance resins additively themselves. Combining digital and conventional dental technology is a central focus of the company.

BIAS – Bremer Institut für angewandte Strahltechnik GmbH

BIAS is your research and development partner for laser materials processing and optical metrology. Together with partners from science and industry, we develop new methods and processes for industrial application.

In laser materials processing, our focus is on laser welding and brazing, additive manufacturing in the powder bed and free-form processes such as directed energy deposition (DED), as well as surface modification processes such as the micro-structuring of metals. An important part of our research and development is process monitoring for an ever-growing understanding of the process, which ultimately enables process improvements.
